Can I rent just the test vehicle?
Yes. Get Your CDL Quick! offers separate reservations for a Texas DPS appointment. Its published Class A or B test-truck rental is $650 at Dallas South and $1,300 at Paris. Passenger or school bus test rentals are $950 at Dallas South and $1,600 at Paris. These prices cover the reserved test vehicle. Confirm fuel, additional charges, the test site and the final written total before booking.
What equipment should I request?
For a Class A combination test, confirm the tractor, trailer and transmission. For a Class B straight truck, ask about the truck’s rating, brakes and transmission. For a passenger or school bus, specify the vehicle and endorsement on your application. DPS requires a representative vehicle for the license you seek.
What happens on test day?
DPS evaluates the vehicle inspection, basic control skills and road driving. Ask the rental office who will bring the vehicle, where you will meet and how much test time is included. The DPS appointment and a truck reservation are separate arrangements. Call before driving to a different office or switching from an automatic to a manual vehicle.
